this is a picture i painted 9-28-2008. i went to my 35th class reunion on the 27th. i went to my studio afterwards and drew out the picture on canvas. i painted some of the picture and fell asleep. when i woke the next day i finished it. oil on canvas 24 by 36 in. for sale. $300. title: above the noise and confusion.

last sunset i saw in costa rica may 30,2008.

this lizard could run so fast that it can run across water. it is called the jesus christ lizard.

deep in the rain forest, but dry that day though it did rain a little every now and then.

the next day i had to head home. i took a four and a half hour walk along
the ocean. not only did i find my best seashell that day, i got some of my best photos. this was a crab i confronted. he stood his ground. it was as big as my hand. it let me get close as if it knew i wouldn't hurt it. a few months ago i did a painting with a crab like this in it from out of my head. it was titled right back where i evolved from.

first part of the day at tamarindo costa rica.

as i walked along the shoreline, i came upon a flock of birds feeding. how free i thought, how free indeed.

norrow is the path. few find it and stay on it for it is narrow and cramped. who could be affording little space. broad and spacious is the way of many.

all the footprints you leave behind are erased from time. think of all the places you set your feet. may your path lead to heavens gate.

i thought it was a snake, but it never moved. i took a picture anyway. this is what i saw.

life is like a river, sometimes raging, sometimes still, but always changing. don't let life vex you.

wonderment of a jungle and wetland. the sounds, the breeze, the blue blue sky, and words still can't capture the experience.

after 2 hours of walking, i stopped to fill my eyes.

my footprints remained silent under the water.

i sat at the pool side and waited for the sun to rise. the sky was brite with stars. i walked down to the ocean shore and went north. after a while i turned toward the east to see the first light of day.

in the realm of time, all is washed away, but in the realm where time does not exist, all is forever.

funny how the ocean seems to call the soul and calm it.
