today 6-4-2009 i took a bike ride to glacier park north of mchenry. it was a sunny warm day. i liked how this oak tree stood tall in the open grass land. it has a baby tree near its side. one day it may stand mighty reaching toward the sky.

i painted this from an indian pictograph i saw in the petrified forest in arizona. i used red sand from canyon de shelly on the body of the figure. this is the first coat of paint and sand. tomorrow i will varnish it and add more paint and sand where needed.

there is something on even when there is nothing on.

i painted this 3-15-09 it's from an egyptian stone carving. i think that i was a male figure but i couldn't tell. i made it a female. it is the fisrt coat of paint. i didn't paint the sky yet. i will wait until it drys. it's best to paint the background first but i just got into painting the figure as if it was coming alive. to think that someone did carve that image into stone around 5,000 years ago and i sat there and in an artful way did as he did, but with paint 5,000 years later.

my tears poured out as the light poured in.

this i painted 3-13-09. oil on canvas 20 by 24 inches. it was painted from a carving in stone from a photo i took in egypt. it was only of the face. it's hard to tell if it is male or female. i added neck, head drape. and color. it is only the first coat of paint and face color will be changed after it drys.

can you figure out this picture??? this is in the dole mansion between the second and third floor. above is a round sky light. i set the camera on the floor aiming up toward the sky light. i set the timer and got up the stairs. this is what i got.

this is a painting i did feb. 26,2009. oil on canvas 20 by 24 in. the other night i was reading about a town in new mexico called taos. it is said that the ground gives off a humming noise. there is a ufo convention there at the end of march 2009. now i have a desire to go there. i guess that is why i painted this?

thursday night february 26, 2009 i drove up to my studio. it was raining and foggy. as i drove in i saw this view. i parked my car and walked back in the parking lot and took this picture.

this is a painting i am working on. i'm not sure where the idea came from. i just draw it out and paint it. oil on canvas. 24 by 30 in. it's almost done and i will show it march 6th at my show at the dole 5 to 7 pm.

hummingbirds, vultures, bees, ants, catus, breezes, blue sky, plants moving and making sound, sandy paths, rocks, rabbits, doves, lizards, just to mention a few things i experienced as i climbed up the superstitious mountain in apache junction arizona. that day it got up to 113 degrees.

i painted this 1-27-2009. i painted over an old painting. i'm not sure where the idea came from. i just started putting paint on the canvas. after a bit, i poured myself a glass of wine. 24 by 36 inchs. oil on canvas.

this is another painting i did the same night 1-26-2009. oil on canvas 18 by 24 in. i love how slowly a painting becomes alive. color must stimulate the eye and fill it with energy.

i painted this 1-26-2009. this is part of my egyptian series. 16 by 20. oil on canvas. as you can see this paint is very wet by the reflection. now it's time to dry.

the illusion of rodin's mind.

taken in the auguste rodin museun in paris france sept. 2008. rodin was a famous french sculptor.

i painted this 1-22-2009 i took an older painting i didn't like and put it on my easel. i took a tube of paint and squeezed it onto the canvas and began to cover the older painting. in an hour or less i was done covering the older painting and this is what turned out. 26 by 36 inches. oil on canvas. maybe i will add to it, maybe it is done?

i spent the last week of 2008 and the first week of 2009 in egypt. i took many pictures of hieroglyphics. even though i don't know what they mean i find the artwork beautiful. all are just the color of stone. the paint has long faided away, but i was in some tombs that where so colorful it looked like they were painted yesterday. we weren't allowed to take pictures in the tombs. so my paintings, the color i make up in my mind. this is my first painting this year 2009. it is 16 by 24 in. oil on canvas. it is the first coat of paint so it needs to dry before i work it to completion. i will sell it for $300. i plan to paint many in this style. watch my blog from time to time for my latest works.

this is a painting i did in july of 2008. oil on canvas 24 by 36 in. at the beginning of the month i shaved my face clean. the first time in many, many years. i saved the beard. after i did this painting and it dried i cut my beard into small pieces and sprinkled it over this painting then sealed it with varnish. i hope in the future when i'm long gone, someone will take a beard hair from this painting and clone me so i will be again.

It will be provided! at church last sunday where i went, they talked about israel and the land where the dome of the rock sets in jerusalem. it is the spot where it is said that abraham was going to sacrifice isaac. i was at that land several years ago. at that spot i took some dirt and i also found a very small blue feather which is to this day on top of the dirt in a small container that i also found at that spot. the day after the church service, monday 11-17-2008 i was inspired to paint this. oil on canvas 24 by 30 in. the ram comes from a picture i took at the lourve museum in paris last september. it dates back to the egyptian era. it was carved in sandstone and is amoung the great art treasures of the world.
